Group Swim Lessons
Level Descriptions (Final level placement decisions will be made by the instructors)
Parent & Tot (6 months – 4 years old)
This program is designed to develop the child’s comfort in the water and readiness to learn more advanced water skills. Parents work one-on-one with their child in the water to learn front kicks, prone glides, underwater exploration, rolling over, and holding positions.
This level is designed to develop the child’s comfort in the water and readiness to learn more advanced skills. In this level, children will work on putting their face in the water for 3 seconds, floating face up and face down for 3 seconds (with support), and leaving the side of the pool and either walking or doggy paddling and return.
*If a child can do all of these skills comfortably and correctly, they need to be enrolled in level 2.
This level is designed to continue the child’s progress in swim development. The child will work on unsupported floating on their front and the back for 5 seconds, jumping into the water and returning to the side, and swimming on their front and back for 5 yards using their arms and legs.
*If a child can do all of these skills comfortably and correctly, they need to be enrolled in level 3.
In this level the child will graduate to swimming freestyle and backstroke across the pool while taking breaths; jump into deep water; learn the elementary backstroke kick, and will learn the skills of treading water.
*If a child can do all of these skills comfortably and correctly, they need to be enrolled in level 4.
This level will work on the child’s rotary breathing skills and increase their swim distance to 25 yards for freestyle and backstroke. Additionally, they will work on elementary back stroke, breast stroke kick, sidestroke kick, and tread water for 2 minutes.
This program is great for those who are working on their endurance and their technique in preparation for the swim team season. All participants of this class must be able to swim 25 yards of each stroke correctly, with correct breathing rhythms and without stopping.
